Investor buys from sci-fi scribe in Turtle Bay

Christos Zoulas bought a two-bedroom, 2.5-bath condo at 100 United Nations Plaza in Turtle Bay from Christof Laputka for $2.475 million on Nov. 24.

The 1,612-square-foot Unit #44D is one of 267 units on 52 floors in the development at 100 United Nations Plaza Tower.

Zoulas is managing director at Two Sigma Investments, LLC. in New York City. He's also worked for D. E. Shaw & Co., in New York, at Commerzbank Investment Banking in Frankfurt, and at Blink.com, Inc., in New York.

He earned his bachelor's in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell.

Laputka is the creator of Leviathan Chronicles, a sci-fi audio series delivered in the form of a 1940's radio serial.

Sales at the 100 United Nations Plaza Tower fell 50 percent from 2006-2007. The median sales price also dropped 6.6 percent during that time period.

There have been 954 condo sales in Midtown East/Turtle Bay in 2008, with a median sales price of $700,000.
