Ruth Ann Swenson sold condo Unit #3A at 62 W. 62nd St. in Lincoln Square to Kathleen McCormack for $875,000 on Dec. 16.

Swenson is a famous American lyric soprano singer who has performed on some of the most famous opera stages in the world. Thought she now makes her home in San Francisco, the New York native's recent ties to New York City include a 2007 stint as Marguerite in the performance of Faust at the Metropolitan Opera and a later role as Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Cesare, also at the Met.

She has performed internationally on various grand opera stages, including the Opera National de Paris, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the Berlin State Opera, the Grand Theâtre de Genève, the Hamburg State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera and the Chicago Lyric Opera.

She attended the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and the Hartt College of Music in West Hartford, Conn. She received an honorary doctorate degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2006, where she taught master classes.

There were 933 condo sales in Lincoln Square in 2008, with a median sales price of $898,000.
