Harvard-trained eye doc buys in Midtown

Dr. Thomas R. Kuhns bought condo Unit #29F at 255 E. 49th St. in Midtown East/Turtle Bay from Stanley and Ellen Adler for $1.1 million on Jan. 9.

The 33-story condominium building was built in 1984. It has 176 units.

Dr. Kuhns is a clinical professor in the ophthalmology department at the Langone Medical Center in New York City. He specializes in contact lenses, neuro-ophthalmology, general ophthalmology and external disease of the eyes.

He received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He completed his internship at Cornell Medical Center and his residency and fellowship at NYU Medical Center.

There were 954 condo sales in Midtown East/Turtle Bay in 2008, with a median price of $700,000.
